BOLLEZZUMME GOES WEST AND
SPEAKS ENGLISH
Look what Tony, the nosy
Gecofrog, found in his “Befana” stocking early this morning: a letter from
Michele from the North Fork, Long Island, submersed by snow and ice but happy
as a clam.
“Yes, my dear friends, Bollezzumme goes west and
speaks English...!!!
I am talking about the film. Going west means London and New York and soon
Las Vegas and Los Angeles, as it was planned when I wrote the project. It
would be foolish not to use the thirty-five years of experience I picked up in
New York City. Making Bollezzumme an international film is a very big challenge
and the only way is to have Americans and English-speaking persons
collaborating and this is exactly what I am doing, sending around all the information
available with the trailer, the teaser, the site and the blog; showing the 90'
minutes cut edited by Adel Oberto and hear and watch the reactions. Very
positive reactions up until now, I have to say. I collected good criticism, new
ideas, unexpected collaborations from distributors, journalists, and
whoever showed some interest in watching the film after being intrigued by the
trailer. Even without the subtitles the reaction is positive.
Still I have the feeling that I have to add something that is not yet clear
yet in my mind... An editing device? An unexpected twist? An unusual
perspective? All of the above, dear friends, and it must come from my American
friends and collaborators. This is the reason why the blog’s language is now
English and why I went to London where I visited my dear friend Neville
Chambers, just returned to his homeland. He is an icon of the rock music of the
1960s, working with Jimi Hendrix, Pete Townshend, the Rolling Stones and the
Beatles. Neville also was a major player in my Pornology New York in 2005. Now
I am in the North Fork of Long Island, a couple of hours from Manhattan,
staying with my sister Candida Royalle who made history of sex bringing the
female point of view in the conservative world of the adult industry. My trip
will continue to Las Vegas for a convention and to Los Angeles and maybe San
Francisco. In the west coast I want to finish the film, the last cut, the
post-production, the final touch… and I’m sure I’ll surprise my audience, all
those who already had the opportunity to see parts of the film and those who
have no idea of what I am putting together.
I am glad of those two years spent in Genova. It is good to go back to
where you come from and check your roots. You get a sense of
perspective. It is also good to bring to Genova some of the experience and
knowledge you collected around the world: this created the Socialab, the Tuesday’s
parties and Cinebollezzumme. This the reason that I have always underlined a
difference between 'bollezzumme', the movie, and 'bollezzumme', the philosophy.
The former is a precise project that will be judged, shown, liked, disliked,
and eventually it will disappear or at his best kept in a film archive. The
latter is a state of mind, a way of living, a statement. It has been around for
centuries and will be alive for more centuries. It just needed a film:
'bollezzumme'.
